Introduction on using Video Shopping Ads
Within the TikTok app, videos with product links are surfaced across the home feed, search results, Shop Tab, and recommendations. Sellers who aren’t as familiar with video content creation may have trouble producing enough good quality videos to run Video Shopping Ads (VSA). This can lead to under-performance or inability to maintain always-on VSA — to help, we’ve introduced a feature for sellers to easily use their affiliates’ videos to run VSA.
Using Video Shopping Ads (VSA), sellers can achieve the following:
- Increase shop GMV
- Capture visibility within the overall pool of TikTok ads impressions
- Control traffic consistency to the shop
- Target specific audiences
- Optimize budget for return on ad spend (ROAS)
- Maximize GMV of top products, increase sales of mature products, and test new products
- Maximize views of high GPM videos, continue getting sales from both newer and older videos, and test different video content
- Understand content level results, product level results, audience behavior, and more by using ads reporting
Setting up and tracking VSA commission
Step 1: When you set up an Open Collaboration, you’ll see the ability to add a Shop Ads commission rate in addition to the Standard commission rate. Turn on the Shop Ads commission rate toggle to run a creator’s organic Shop video as an Shop Ad. Then, set a commission rate that creators will receive for sales driven through the Shop Ad. If at any point you want to stop offering VSA commission, return here to turn the toggle off. Note that when you turn the toggle off, the system will fall back to using the standard commission rate to pay the creators for the sales they drive.
Note: For any purchases driven by the Shop Ad, the creator only receives the Shop Ad commission rate. If you do not have a Shop Ads account set up, you will first need to do this in Seller Center.
Step 2: After setting up VSA commission, you can see the Shop Ads commission rate and estimated commission for each product in the Open Collaboration page.
Creating Video Shopping Ads
Step 1: When you scroll right in Open Collaboration, you will also see a column for Videos authorized for Shop Ads. Click into the column to see the specific videos that are authorized for Shop Ads.
Step 2: To select the video you would like to turn into a Video Shopping Ad, click Create Ads. This will redirect you to TikTok Ads Manager. From there, follow the Video Shopping Ads instructions to create the VSA.
